Research

Background

I completed my undergraduate studies from India, and later went to England for a postgraduate degree in Particles, String's and Cosmology. For my dissertation in Durham with my Advior Ruth Gregory (Currently in King's College, London) I worked on Cosmology and string theory and studied how Cosmic inflation was embedded in String theory with the help of D-branes. This lead me to String Landscape and the Swampland. This Vast range of consistent 4 dimensional effective field theories, arising in string theory is called the string Landscape. Genealogy

My PhD advisor is Carlos Ordoñez (Weinberg Group, University of Texas at Austin), whose advisor was Philip Candelas(University of Oxford), whose advisor was Dennis W. Sciama(University of Cambridge). Funfact: Dennis W. Sciama is also Stephen Hawking's advisor.

Current Research

I am currently working on a quantum mechanical model of Majorana fermions with random interactions, this is called the SYK Model (Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev Model). What's special about this model is, that in the low energy limit where the theory is strongly coupled, its effective action has a schwarzian derivative, this derivative is also found in the action of the holographic description of J-T dilaton gravity (Jackiw-Teiteleboim). In other words the SYK model, in the low energy limit, is dual to 2D J-T gravity.
About the picture: The picture above was taken in the summer after my postgraduation, when I went traveling across the UK. This was taken outside the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge.
